Equipment

The Laboratory for Archaeometric Analysis and Research (LAIA) has a team of researchers and highly specialized professionals, alongside first class scientific instruments. The infrastructure and equipment available allow us to successfully face studies and analyzes of materials and samples of heritage interest (archaeological or historical). In particular and specifically we prioritize the implementation and development of non-destructive and non-invasive physical-chemical analysis. Thanks to the continued support of the Universidad de Tarapacá and the contribution of various government initiatives (UTA MECESUP 0801 Project; Universidad de Tarapacá’s Mineduc Performance Agreement; CONICYT-FONDECYT), LAIA now has a set of tools and equipment that allows it to analyze a large variety of both inorganic and organic materials.
